Exploring profile, colour and texture, this series of earrings were made side by side and in relation to each other. Taking inspiration from old factory buildings in the gloaming hour, the strong matt black oxidised silver allows the smooth Formica colours and sparks of gold to pop, whilst giving a gentle nod to the industrial process and extreme pressure required to create the material. Developed through drawings and card models before finding their true form on the workbench; circles, arches and tapering combine areas of exquisite fine detail with clear uncluttered space, whilst the gentle dark wood body teases both viewer and wearer to see the work from all sides - with delightful rewards hidden on the back.
