I went on a very fun, smelly afternoon course on patinating metals at the Courtauld. Led by metalsmith and patination expert Adi Toch, we spent a few hours colouring brass and copper with household foods; eggs, gherkins, capers, salt & vinegar crisps and tabasco were some of the things we tried. It's quite remarkable what they can do to metals! I have to say I'm not sure the results are longterm enough for jewellery, so whilst it was inspiring, I don't think it'll be a technique I introduce into my practice.
I also got to see the Hepworth in Colour exhibition at the Courtauld Gallery. Some images of both below.
