Every year at Goldsmiths' Fair visitors are invited to enter a prize draw to win £500 to spend with a Fair exhibitor of their choice. At the last Fair Nicola won this draw and chose to spend it with me! This was a wonderful surprise and it was a pleasure working with Nicola to design something especially for her. After a studio visit we decided to rework an existing design into a new pair of earrings. I made a few options in silver and then once the design was confirmed I made them in 18ct yellow gold.

Nicola wrote: "I was beyond excited to be the winner of the 2023 Goldsmiths' Fair prize draw and was delighted to discover that although I hadn't seen her at the Fair (as I visited during Week 1), Emily Kidson was one of the Week 2 exhibitors, which meant I could choose (or commission) a piece of her jewellery. Emily couldn't have been lovelier to work with, and was very patient with me (in particular when I changed my mind about which earrings I'd like!) In the end, Emily created a new design for me and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my earrings. They look gorgeous, are wonderfully tactile (I'm a fiddler!) and they make a very lovely sound when you move your head. If you're looking for a jeweller to work with on a commission, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Emily - she really made it a special experience."
