M.E.G.A. (Make Earth Great Again) with Dialogue Collective

In March (2019) we took the collaborative exhibition M.E.G.A to Munich Jewellery Week. With the overall theme of climate change the 14 of us each looked at a different aspect, from coastal erosion and sea pollution to bee hotels and rubbish. I looked at trees and my working title was Reforesting Nottingham.

The floods came first. Turning the midlands into marshland, Lincoln into Venice, Hull into Atlantis. In Nottingham, warehouses and factories alongside the River Trent awaited their fate. Nature took back over, tall oak trees bursting through damaged corrugated roofs, whilst the City Ground was ironically abandoned to become of all things a forest.

Materials: wood (sapele, oak, yew, wengé, bubinga, London plane, purpleheart, bird’s-eye maple and walnut), oxidised silver and cotton cord.
