Yesterday I went to Fold Gallery (a very small but lovely space in the basement of 158 New Cavendish Street) for the first time to see ‘Metousiosis’ an exhibition of work by Simon Allison and Ted Larson. I went because I follow Ted Larson, an American artist, on Instagram and I had never seen his work in person. His pieces combine steel and colour, the work is smaller than I imagined from the photographs I’ve seen.
It was great to learn of Simon Allison’s work for the first time too. I really liked his tall turned oak piece and the long stick-like Sprite pieces on the walls (photos below). I am drawn to their work because they are using similar materials to me, and use a lot of colour, in a fine art environment. The exhibition is on until 3rd August.
